Student loan FAQs
You and your cosigner will need:
- Your address; if you've lived there less than one year, also provide your previous address
- Your Social Security number if you have one
- School information; enrollment status, degree, and course of study
- Academic period of enrollment and year in school
- Requested loan amount. You can cover a full year of school-certified expenses including tuition, fees, books, housing, meals, travel, and personal school expenses2
- Financial aid and scholarships you expect to receive
- Employment information; company name and gross income
- Financial information; bank accounts, and monthly mortgage or rent payments
Global Credit Union does not service student loans. We've partnered with Sallie Mae to provide student loan options to our members.
Once you start the application process with Sallie Mae, they will be your primary point of contact. Global Credit Union will not have access to view your student loan information.
Estimate how much you need to borrow for the entire school year and subtract any money you have received from scholarships, grants, work-study, and federal loans, along with any savings you or your family have for school. Then you’ll be left with the amount you still need to pay for college.
